Why medicines are not mass produced like electronics to reduce the cost of the medicine?

Imagine (or Google) the fastest, most powerful computer on the market right now. How - do you think - did the manufacturers figure out HOW to make the fastest, most powerful computer?

Research and development. Trial and error.

The creation of new medicines often involve tremendous amounts of time and effort. Just think about it, how would YOU go about making a cure for cancer? Or a therapy for preventing rejection of a transplanted organ?

Once a pharmacutical company figures out the answer to a problem, and the patent expires, then competitors often release generic brands of the medicine at a reduced price - because they didn't have to expend any money on research.

It seems like common sense that the only reason that some medicine has a high price is because of the GREED of the drug companies - but without the motivation of personal gain (i.e. greed) there would be LESS medical advances.

Do you honestly think that they wait until you turn in a prescription before they make the medicine to fill it?They mass produce medicine just like they do everything else. They put an expiration date on the bottle when they fill the prescription, but those pills may have expired long ago. They don't make money by throwing medicine away! If they discovered a cure for cancer,they would make a few dollars initially but in the long run would loose billions. Therefore there won't be a cure for it!

Many of them are mass produced, however, this does not affect the cost. The pharmaceutical companies are in it for the big money, don't you know? Also, they spend billions on research and when a drug turns out to be good, they have to get back all the money somehow.

it would help if pharmaceutical companies weren't in mattress with such countless politicians. in certainty they decide for tochronic up expenses and there isn't any opposition because of the fact they positioned such countless politicians in place of work. yet another reason is that our well being care device is so disorganized ordinary. If we had a uniform national well being care plan because of the fact the main payer to medical centers expenses may be pushed down (Canada and France are stable examples of this). regrettably, insurance companies and different such companies even have their hands in politics and block such initiatives.

They will never be cheap because pharmaceutial companies aren't in it to help people. They are in it to make money. And that's why people die from them.
