I don't know I have never been a black teen.

Not all black teens feel that way. But the ones that do, are a product of their environment. They live around people and situations that provide no hope. They could come from parents that have not been properly educated, that's an affect right there. They could live in sub-standard housing, that will affect them too. You really have to live it to understand it. I'm a single black mom that didn't raise my children in a mansion, but they were raised to believe they could do and/or be anything. Now, I have a daughter that is a corporate manager at the age of 21, two children on the way to college, and my baby is a junior in high school with aspirations to be a forensic pathologist. None of them rap, play basketball, belong to a gang, made me a grandmother at 35 (I'm not a grandmother at all), none are or have been locked up, on drugs, or any other stereotype ignorant people like to group us in. If you're raised properly, you can be given all the hope in the world.

I'm certain you aren't referring to ALL black teens, here. You probably mean poor black teens... the same answer applies to poor any-color teens. They only know what's around them, if it's poverty it is also often illiteracy. Can't teach your kids what you don't know. Most schools assign reading homework, not realizing that there are still a great many parents out there who can't read. Not being able to read holds you back and then, at some point, you're so far behind that you feel you can't catch up. So you have very little hope for the future!!

I haven't met a black teen yet who hasn't had ANY hope for the furture.
I don't know where you get your info from, but all teenagers have the same sort of problems no matter what the race. All races of people commit suicide because they feel they have no hope. All races of people never go to college or drop out of school. All races of people can be a**holes. You prove that well.

I think it needs to be demonstrated to them how they can achieve. If you are looking at failure all around you it might start to affect how you see yourself. We also need better participation by the fathers of these children. It shouldn't be an accepted practice to bring children into the world that you have no intention of supporting. And teenaged girls need to find something else to do other than allowing those boys to use their bodies for recreation. There are so many programs and churches out there that it's no longer a viable excuse for black teens to not have some hope. But they've got to step outside of the box and reach for it, not wait until someone comes to offer.

"Black & White" used to descibed Humans a social consruct designed manipulate minds and divide & conquer Humans.

All that being said, hopelessness is sold in USA society daily, to further manipulate minds as well. hopelessness is something that cut across all ethnic designations and suprisingly age desinations as well.

TV news, broadcast more bad news than good. There is very little encouragement for anyone. Hopelessness increased with the deployment of 2 atomic bombs in 1945, continued mistreatment of citizens, assinations of public figures, increased pollution, intentional less than mediocre education within every sector of the society, and increased rampant materialism among common people.

Rampant materialism has caused adult citizens to further lose their souls for the gain of the world. Today we are raising children that are not being raised because time & money are factors. Many Adults do not respect Adults. Many Adults are not setting the proper example for the young. Hopeless Adults are raising hopeless children. Coping mechnanisms are not as strong today as in times past in both young and old.

Most People have become more tyrrantical and cowardly than ever. They are also more pretentious. This is the reason why hopelessness is prevalent among most.

Be that as it may every individual has responsibility for oneself. The power is within all individuals.

I dunno, you tell us. Aren't you black? Why don't you tell us how you feel so that we can all sympathize your position as being a black teen. To be honest with you, I've seen way more whites, and other races that have no hope right now, so I'm not sure what you're worried about. Well, certainly don't worry about that first psychopath, remember, his mamma only taught him so much.....which was nothing at all. He's just feeling a bit insecure that blacks are actually better at every sport than white people, except hockey (this game is for rednecks with a few teeth ya know). Cheer up!!

I do have hope for the future and I'm black and I plan to be a veterinarian or a wildlife journalist because I love animals. I go to school and get straight A's. So....if I keep this up I'll have a good future.

Here we go - another Question we are not alllowed to answer.. Sorry if anyone takes the hump - but think seriously about my answer . Black teens from the neighbourhood !! need to urgently stop wanting to live in a Gangsta's fantasy land video.. and pull their trousers up .. and learn a bit of social manners & stop chanting respect !! If you want respect you have to earn it. Think about it - you are an employer ., and a young lad walks in for an interview - smartly turned out - giving it - yes sir no sir 3 bags full sir , can I have the job sir . .Then the next lad walks in with his trousers round his azz walking in a monkey stylie,. saying respect yo man ! brother .&.the N word . Who would you Employ ?
