Apples and oranges, my friend. I've owned my pet pig since 9wks. old and he started a happy life with my 9 month old pup. We knew he would out live his buddy, who passed May 10th at 14 1/2 years. So, better than a dog,...well, they live longer, they're more stubborn (because they're very smart), and you can't very well travel when ever you please, unless you have a very good friend to "pig-sit". Oh, and you have to "pig-proof" your home, cuz they'll find a way to get to what they want,.....don't party cuz they'll snag food off the coffee table, but only when they know it's "safe" (like your drunk and not paying attention:) After 15yrs, yeah, since day 1, I love my pig, he's the best, but better than a dog?....well, I'll only have one pig in my lifetime cuz he taught me enough of the ways of a smart pig "jedi", but I'll have dogs till the day I die, cuz they don't squeal when you take them on road trips!
Love to all animals!!!!
P.S. They don't stink or smell.

Actually, potbellied pigs are very loyal and fun to be around as well. However, they are extremely difficult to take care of (you better not be squemish). But compared to a dog, the dog wins hands down. They are easy to care for and also very good friends.

Pig is a lot tastier.

No, I'm joking.

Pigs are great, depending on what you want out of the animal. I've not seen the pot bellied pig that my parents have ever play fetch or anything like that. Dogs are more social, but the pig would probably be better behaved overall.

Pigs can't go everywhere, As dogs can go to more places. I'd choose a dog over anything tho. Male dog- has better behavior and more lovable sometimes.

Pigs are like dogs in one way; they have personalities. Some animals just dont, cows for instance. Unfortunately pigs smell like pigs. The only other animals that come close to smelling that bad are monkeys.

My mom's pig moved out of the house to his own 'retirement home' field after about 5 years. He was well-behaved, but too big for the house. He's close to 20 years old now, and about 150-200 lbs, with long tusks, blind and deaf.
Pigs, even small ones, are a lot of muscle to mess around with. Not something to take a chance on if you are unfamiliar with them.

The problem with pigs is they keep growing, and no matter how nice they are it is difficult to control or clean up after a 500 or 700 lb. pet.

No, its not a good idea. Even though people think of pot belly pigs as pets, they are still livestock. It is not a city PET......

One is not better than the other. Keep in mind that pigs cannot be trained in the same way a dog is trained.
