First you find the common denominator; which in this case is 6. You find it by looking at the denominators of both fractions you are adding. (6 and 3 are both factors of 6). You multiply whichever number you have multiplied at the bottom of the fraction to the top of the fraction. 2/3 times 2/2 = 4/6. then all you do is add 4/6 to 1/6 and you get 5/6.

I noticed that you ask for answers for many questions that related to fractions, I guess you are having a hard time to understand how to find the common denominator
2/3 + 1/6
=4/6 + 1/6
=5/6
To find a common denominator, you need to first determine what number is their common multiple. In this case, 6 is the denominator, because is divisble by both 3 and 6. 2) 2/3 is = 4/6 (both top and bottom number multiply by 2). I hope this little explanation will help you

Five-sixths (5/6)
First you find a common denominator by multiplying 2/3 by 2=4/6, then you add 4/6 + 1/6=5/6.

it's 5/6 because you have to get common denominators.since ?/6 is the lowest common denominator(lcd)you have to multiply the fraction that doesn't have 6 as a denominator.so,2/3 x 2 is 4/6 add 4/6 to1/6 to get 5/6
