I have wrestled professionally and I will say this. You have a lot of validity in what you say. What we do is more entertainment than it is sport. Pro Wrestling is not, by definition, an athletic contest. I will say, though, that we are athletes. In fact, pro wrestling has probably got some of the greatest athletes in the world, but the outcome is predetermined. I don't like the term "Sports Entertainment"..that is just a marketing term created by Vince McMahan. Frankly, I don't really care that much where "rasslin" is catagorized..I guess it's a hybrid between athleticism and theatre. All that said, it probably does fit better in the catagory of entertainment than it does sports..but, I would bet money that I could beat Tiger Woods in the middle of the ring :-), legit.

Like Third of Five, I am a college graduate-- not some kid/redneck/nerd/whatever label you want to try to slap on me. It just so happens that wrestling is something I grew up watching, and I still watch it today. Don't like it? Go watch your football, your March Madness, or your UFC. My life doesn't revolve around this weekend's "big game," like so many fellow males I know and work with. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but sometimes I wonder if their life is missing some form of fulfillment that they have to feel so personally invested in the success or failure of their favorite team. I mean, they come in to work Monday, and if their team lost, it's all glum looks and pouty faces from this kind of guy. Why rain on everyone else's day because you don't understand how your dependence on living vicariously through people more athletically gifted than you is a pretty shallow lifestyle? Which leads me to ask, similarly, why you want to come over here and bash on wrestling fans-- do you feel like it fulfills your otherwise shallow existence? Whether you like it or not, professional wrestling is a hybrid of theater and sport. You have to be pretty acrobatic and strong to perform in the ring 300 nights a year like some of these guys do, and they're certainly highly trained, or else they'd be injured all the time from the constant beating their bodies take. That's why it's in the Sports category, FYI.

I do agree with Chris m, but still everybody here talks about WWE and they present fake wrestling. It would be great to have a Sport Entertainment category, so that people stopped saying "Wrestling is fake you retarded dumb a$$"
WE KNOW IT'S FAKE!!!!!!

Of course it's theater, but they also have to do some athletic moves too. Their bodies have to be kept in shape just as much as football players, baseball players, swimmers, etc.
It's scripted, it's not FAKE. You can't fake a suplex, you can't fake a chair shot, you can't fake broken limbs.
It's a shame how many people put down this sports entertainment. I know that if THEY were ever thrown in the ring with a wrestler, they'd be crying for their mama within seconds.

because it's sports entertainment. so they picked sports instead of entertainment to put it in. one way or another ppl will still *****. if it's in sports, the sports fans will get mad, if it's in entertainment the wrestling fans will get mad because it is sort of sportish. the creaters just killed 2 birds with one stone here, cuz this section covers both amature and proffesional wrestling. and if they had wrestling under sports and entertainment, it would cause confusion.

A majority of wwe is entertainment but come on, look at the stuff these guys do on a daily basis, yes it might be scripted but i'm sure most of the stuff hurts to a certain degree, i think the wwe has every right to be in the sports section.

it is not based on the catagory, it is based on the people and what they ask. It does not specify wwe, etc, and wrestling is a sport (olympic that is) but if people want to ask questions about fake wrestling, it is their perogitive.

I believe questions on professional wrestling and its participants are more ideally suited to "Entertainment & Music" > "Jokes and Riddles"
