Look through your cabinets, closets and garage for stuff you don't use anymore and/or are willing to part with that have value. Since you don't have time for eBay (which typically is going to involve a week or so to get the cash into your bank account), look up the local Craigslist for your city. You can find it by going to http://www.craigslist.com and then finding your city on the right side and clicking.
It's a free classified site and you can put your stuff up there and I've had amazing success, selling most things the day they list.
Next idea:
It sounds gross, but my sis-in-law does it when she's really short on cash, but.... we call it "dumpster diving." It helps if you look near universities as young adults are horribly wasteful.
Lots of people who need to get out of their apts by month end have neither the patience or time to sell or even haul their stuff up to Goodwill, so they leave it out by their dumpsters. YOu can find furniture and other functional and saleable items, often outside the dumpster. My SIL actually looks inside and will retrieve stuff, me..I just can't go that far.
But then she pulls it all out on Saturday and Sunday for a garage sale (which you can also list in the paper and on Craigslist). A good haul can net 4-500 dollars.
You can also sometimes find good stuff left at the curb in other neighborhoods, or even cull stuff off the FREE column on Craigslist.

Do you have anything you can pawn or sell? It's an option.
Do you have any friends or relatives that would give or loan you money?
How understanding is your landlord? Can you make some kind of arrangement for a delay in paying the balance? If you are a good tenant and this is unusual for you, your landlord will be willing to work with you.

You can sell everything on ebay that isn't tied down or on craiglist.
And do a budget so you are posting or stressing about this question for Oct 1st.

Payday loans are helpful in a pinch! Just be careful not to end up needing one every payday!

garage sale. if you want lots of people to show up, invite your neighbors to do their own garage sale on the same day. that way, you advertise as a block garage sale and lots more people would show up to hit 3 sales instead of just 1.
