Here are some tips for preventing and easing constipation:
• Eat high-fiber foods such as cereals, whole-grain breads, and fresh fruits and vegetables every day. Add a couple of tablespoons of unprocessed wheat bran (available at health food stores) to your cereal in the morning and follow it with a glass of water.
• Drink plenty of water — at least six to eight glasses a day. A glass of fruit juice every day, especially prune juice, can also be helpful.
• Exercise regularly. Walking, swimming, riding on a stationary bike, and yoga can all help ease constipation and leave you feeling more fit and healthy.
• Listen to your body. Never put off going to the bathroom when you feel the urge.
• Ask your healthcare provider about taking an over-the-counter fiber supplement or switching to an iron supplement with less iron.

My mom would tell me to eat a tbs of mustard preferrably French's and then drink a warm glass of water. Walk around for ten min. Thats for the gas. for the constipation. This sounds gross but cut off a stick of bar soap that would not be painful and give yourself an enema. This is safe and you can repeat it as often as necessary. Both me and my sister did it while we were pregnant and we both have two. It really does work. Wear gloves if you have them

You need to stay active, walk lot's it willhelp you during birthing as well. Watch what you eat and have a balanced diet with lots of fruit and veggies, as well as NATURAL fibre. Eat cereal with bran in it, stay away from too much cheeses, white bread.. etc

Try taking metamucil...it comes in pill form and is a whole lot easier to take. Make sure that your diet contains a lot of fruit and fibre.
