I am interested in hearing from people that have had very negative reactions in their children following a vaccination. Also, can you suggest any good websites on vacc. information? Thanks!

Thank you to ALL who contributed their opinions and research on this subject. I wish I could give everyone ten points. Thanks to you all for sending me great websites..it is really a huge help!!
When I was 14, I had a big asthma attack and while in the doc office, they said I was behind on my vaccs..and should have had another MMR. They gave it to me and within 5 minutes, I began to vomit profusely and fainted in the parking lot. My mother rushed me back in and they said it had nothing to do with the vaccination and even tried to charge her another office visit to have me seen from the reaction. When my daughter was born, I was skeptical (this was 12 years ago) and actually waited several months before starting the vacc. rounds. Each time, she would get very ill, her legs would be hot and red and puffy, and she would cry for hours. I thought it odd at the time, and asked the docs..they said it was "completely normal".. I felt awful to see my baby in pain and fever.

Last year they said she needed some updates and this time I signed a waiver because of remembering her adverse reactions from before. She is also asthamtic now and I didn't want to risk it. She is home schooled and we go through a charter school. Well, now I am due to give birth to my second baby in 2 months, and I need to be informed because I have a very strong gut feeling that I shouldn't get him vaccinated after birth. Everything about it makes me uncomfortable. I am glad to have a lot of people respond and give me great valid websites to help me with this decision. THANK YOU!

I would like to comment on some of the answers that you received so far. Then I will give you my opinion.

In response to Opus...
Opus wrote:
"To risk your children's lives on the mistaken belief that vaccines are harmful is the worst sort of child abuse."

Child Abuse? That's a VERY strong accusation. Saying that it is a "mistaken belief" that vaccines are harmful is an uneducated, ignorant, one-sided comment.

Opus also mentioned:
"The risk of harm from vaccination is miniscule in comparison to the risk of harm from disease."

Try telling that to parents who lost children because of vaccines. Try telling that to the parents of children who have been PERMANENTLY damaged by vaccines.

Opus also mentioned:
"Too many "scare stories" have falsely exaggerated the risk of the vaccines and have led to numerous uneducated parents making stupid decisions."

Scare stories? To me, a scare story is when you go into the doctor's office, and he says "Your daughter HAS to have the recommended vaccines. If she does not, you will be placing her at risk of catching a deadly, horrible disease." THAT is a "scare story." Real life people who are permanently damaged or killed by vaccines are NOT "scare stories" .

Opus also mentioned:
"Read the TRUTH for a change..."

The website that you placed here is "THE TRUTH". To you the truth is one sided? One web page is "the truth"? And you are calling parents who DECIDE to make an INFORMED DECISION "child abusers" and of making "stupid decisions"?

As far as the comments that were made by Diana Z. I feel that you sincerely mean well. I feel that you are just misinformed.

It is true that there are different types of vaccines. Some live, some dead.. But how can you say "Dead do no harm"?

Most of time, it is not the virus (live or dead) that causes bad reactions in a vaccine. It’s the ingredients, the preservatives, and other things such as an overload on an infant’s under-developed immune system. Most Vaccines contain formaldehyde, mercury, aluminum, aborted fetal tissue, monkey kidney cells, etc... Many ingredients that are known to be harmful to humans. Imagine what they can do to babies...
Here is a link of ingredients...
http://www.informedchoice.info/cocktail.html

Then you go on to say..
"Trust me, give em the shots Its like insurance. Do it for them!"

Comments like this amaze me! And I am not picking on you. These exact same comments come from other parents, teachers, and doctors. "Trust me. Give them the shots." Ok.. and if she does trust you and her children end up permanently damaged from the shots, will you be there to help? Those are very strong comments to make. If the child does have a reaction it will be the parents who have to live with it. Nobody else. This is why I believe that the parents should be able to make their own INFORMED decision.

Ok.. now as I mentioned earlier, I feel that it should be a decision made by the parents. The parents will need to research this subject very thoroughly. It is a very important decision. Most parents don't bother to research this subject. Most parents blindly trust what their doctors tell them. Most doctors will not tell you the whole story. The will tell you that your children need the vaccinations. And that the negative reactions to the vaccines are "very rare". Aside from that, how can the doctors even have enough time to explain benefits and risks to you? They cant. This is a subject that I have been researching for over a year now. Many people spend their lifetime researching vaccinations. And they are going to cover everything in 10 minutes? I don't think so.

What I feel needs to be done is this:
1. Research the risks of EACH vaccine and EACH disease.
2. Compare the two. Do the risks outweigh the benefits?
3. Be prepared for the risks. For example, if they choose not to vaccinate, you need to boost their child's immune system through vitamins and minerals and whole foods. You also need to know how to treat these diseases if your child comes down with one.

You need to ask... What are the chances that my child will catch this disease? If he/she does, is it treatable? What are the chances that my child will have a bad reaction to a vaccine? You may find that the risk of potential reactions to a vaccine are more severe than the actual disease. For example chicken pox...

I remember when I was a child and the vaccine for chicken pox did not exist. Chicken Pox was not a big deal back then. It was considered a good thing if we got it at a young age. This would provide lifelong, natural immunity. All of a sudden, there is this huge fear of chicken pox. And now many schools are "requiring" the chicken pox vaccine.

I, personally, would never inject that stuff into my child. The vaccine's risks outweigh the risks of complications caused by chicken pox. And, on top of that, the vaccine is not 100% effective. It may also give you a higher chance to get shingles as an adult, which is worse than having chicken pox as a child.

But don't take my word for it. Research it yourself. You are responsible for the well being of your children. I'm not. Nobody else here who posted a response is. The doctor's aren’t. Only the parents are. That is why it needs to be your informed choice.
Also...
Don’t research from a Pro-Vaccination point of view.
Don’t research from an Anti-Vaccination point of view.
Research it from a concerned parent's point of view.

There are many biased websites out there. (pro-vax and anti-vax) Some of those biased websites do contain good information. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. You should only be concerned with the facts. Not with the opinions that are used to spin the facts around.

If you are interested in knowing more about people who have had negative reactions to vaccines there is a great site that I recommend. Now, I bet all of the pro-vax people who are reading this are jumping up and down already waiting to discredit the site that I am about to give you. But it is not your typical anti-vax site. It is a site that is actually run by the CDC. And, if you are not aware of this, it is actually the CDC who recommends the vaccinations that we should have.

The CDC has a program called VAERS (The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System). Most people don’t even know that this website exists because doctors and nurses usually don’t mention it.

Opus mentioned earlier about "scare stories" and "uneducated parents making stupid decisions"....

Think about those comments when you are searching through this database.

The first link is a search criterion that I entered. Just to show you the seriousness of this. This search will show you babies between the ages of 0 to 5years of age who have died because of a vaccine reaction. You can see how many results came up "Found 1928 records with From age '0' and To age '5' and Patient Died"

If you want to run your own search, you can just go to the bottom of the page and click on "New Search"

http://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/findfield.php?LOWAGE=0&HIGHAGE=5&SEX=&STATE=&PRIOR_VAX=&VAX_DATE_LOW=&VAX_DATE_HIGH=&CUR_ILL=&VAX=&VAXDOSE=&VAXMAN=&VAXROUTE=&VAXLOT=&VAXSITE=&ONSET_DATE_LOW=&ONSET_DATE_HIGH=&REPORT_DATE_LOW=&REPORT_DATE_HIGH=&SYMPTOMS=&HISTORY=&L_THREAT=&ER_VISIT=&DIED=Yes&HOSPITAL=&DEATH_DATE_LOW=&DEATH_DATE_HIGH=&X_STAY=&RECOVD=&LAB_DATA=&DISABLE=&OTHER_MEDS=&V_ADMINBY=&V_FUNDBY=&PAGENO=1&PERPAGE=10

Here is the main page...
http://vaers.hhs.gov/

Also, remember how I mentioned about reading between the lines and looking only at the FACTS and not at opinions. Here is a perfect example...

The CDC admits that there are far more negative reactions to vaccine than there are occurrences of the actual diseases.

Here are the facts:

"Today, vaccine-preventable diseases are at or near record lows. At the same time, approximately 15,000 cases of adverse events following vaccination are reported in the United States each year. This number exceeds the current reported incidence of vaccine-preventable childhood diseases."

Now, do you believe that they use these exact words to prove the point that vaccinations work?
Here’s the link to the page:
http://www.cdc.gov/nip/publications/pink/safety.pdf

Contrary to popular beliefs, vaccinations are not 100% safe. They are not 100% effective. There is no guarantee that your child will not get the disease that the vaccine is supposed to be protecting him/her for. There is also no guarantee that your child will not have a very bad reaction to the vaccine.

Again, to be clear… I don’t want you to take my word for it. I am a strong believer in informed consent. You will never hear me say “Don’t do it.” You need to decide what to do.

“Go get your children vaccinated”, “It’s the right thing to do.”, “If you don’t you’re a bad parent.” You will hear things like that all the time. No parent should take anybody’s word for it. Research the subject and make your own decision. That is my advice to any parent.

Good luck!

There are several tyes of vaccines

Some are active, some are attenuated(weakened) and some are dead.

Dead do no harm

Weakened and Live may cause problems since the organism is actually alive and just might be able to overpower the immune system

This is why infants tend to run a fever right after such shots

There is a really low rate of serious complications but they do happen

I would tell you though, it is a risk worth taking.

E.g. If a baby got chiken pox from a vaccine, that will be it. If this child gets it as an adult that means at least two weeks off from school/work and the possibilities of catching shingles and maybe possibly spreading it.

Trust me, give em the shots

Its like insurance. Do it for them!

Apparently there are just WAY too many kids who have deadly reactions to the vaccines and the carriers. Here's a website that says we should NEVER vaccinate: http://VaccineTruth.com

They claim children can have terrible things like this as a result of vaccination: Shaken Baby Syndrome, Chronic Ear Infections, Death, SIDS, Seizures, ADD, Allergies, Asthma, Autism, Diabetes, Meningitis, Polio.

Newton's makes a homeopathic remedy to help children over minor adverse reactions to vaccination.

My youngest I chosen to postpone her vaccinations after she became very cranky/drained/irritable after the 1st set with the physician, additionally they had the MMR scare at that factor or perhaps nonetheless the workplace certain me that there became no an infection of their vaccinations, i had to make double specific. I held her back one vaccination bypass to and then resumed the vaccinations back on the subsequent scheduled one. i did no longer try this because of the fact of a few thing i study, or some thing somebody else became telling me, I did it for my own precautions, besides as my youngster's. She continues to be getting the immunizations on the perfect a while in accordance to the CDC and American academy of Pediatrics...yet because of the fact that i've got been advised that the comparable element occurred to me while i became a sprint one and that i subsequently became allergic to the Pertussis portion of the single shot..I chosen to try this in worry that my newborn might bypass interior the process the comparable element that I did. She did super with all of the different photos, the photos that have been given "late" she had a sprint a topic with, yet no longer something in comparison to the 1st time around. After wards, she had no subject in any respect with the photos, different than being somewhat drained. The physician advised me that my determination became positive because of the fact she became nevertheless to be getting the vaccinations on the cautioned a while placed forth...and he or she reported that she might extremely see extra father and mom being somewhat down the middle while there are doubtless problems..extremely than one extreme or the different.

Here are some great websites:
www.909shot.com

http://www.mercola.com/article/vaccines/links.htm
(you may have heard of his health newsletters - they're pretty popular in the natural health community)

http://curezone.com/topic/vaccination/
(curezone is also a forum so you can post specific questions and search all the other answers - it's a wonderful resource!)

I am a student of natural health and have met many (too many) parents whos' kids had horrible side effects. Predominantly austism has been the consequence from immunizations, along with allergic reactions, behavioral changes (one typical statement I have heard is "my child just wasn't the same after the shots"), and affects on the GI to name a few. From a public health perspective it is worth immunizing all children in order to keep diseases from spreading, from a individual perspective risking even one child is not worth it. I've heard both sides of the argument and in the end you will have to make that choice. Personally, I believe a newborns' immune system is not strong enough to effectively cope with immunizations and the stress they show on the body.
Best of luck in your decision. Hope the websites help.

My kids have not had negative reactions from vaccines, but if I were faced with the decision of whether to vaccinate now - I'd hesitate - for a long time. Check out the www.mercola.com and see how this physician feels about it. Check out the rise in autism, and the CDC's study relating to the vaccination question. I'm not convinced now that they're safe, and I'm beginning to believe there is a correlation between the vaccine and various side effects, mainly autism. Good luck to you.

I never vaccinated my son (he is 4) and he is the healthiest kid I know. He has never had any serious illness, not even an ear infection.

My cousin (an adult) got a vaccination as an adult (I do not remember which one) and she developed a severe allergy to meat and dairy. ALL meat and ALL dairy. It is so bad she has to be rushed to the hospital if she accidently injests them. She is also a RN and she has never vaccinated her children either.

I do not know of any websites but I would look into vaccinations BEFORE you choose to vaccinate (or not). It is a very personal decision.

"I never vaccinated my son... he is the healthiest kid"
You are extremely lucky. I pray your luck does not run out. What will you say to your son then?
To risk your children's lives on the mistaken belief that vaccines are harmful is the worst sort of child abuse.

The risk of harm from vaccination is miniscule in comparison to the risk of harm from disease. Too many "scare stories" have falsely exaggerated the risk of the vaccines and have led to numerous uneducated parents making stupid decisions. Read the TRUTH for a change:
