Read the assigned material and use post-its to mark where relavent stuff is. Most exams are timed (if you are doing this online) and you may only enter the exam once. This negates "looking for the answers" in another window online. If you have read the book and marked where stuff is, you will have no problems with the exam. Pay attention to the footnotes and quotes, because sometimes instructors like to throw in questions mentioning 'who' said something, or "fig.1-3", so they know you are using the required texts.

Reread the selection you're supposed to study (unless it's the whole book) and hi-lite important information. The first sentence of each paragraph is often the main idea, so it'll be easy to flip through and find the section you'll want during the test if you do it that way. Don't freak out about it though- open book tests are nice. If your teacher does a lot of lecturing outside of the text- I hope you took notes. Bring those with you. Good luck!

You need to study just as if it were NOT open book. Mark your pages with note cards or sticky notes, too. Don't think open book tests are easier, not for a moment.
