About 3 weeks ago I started a tank with 7 male fancy guppies. Recently one of my guppies, a green cobra guppy, developed a dark spot above its anal fin, which I read is a gravid spot. What I thought was a male guppy is actually a female and pregnant?! The problem is the gravid spot is visible during the day especially after eating (completely black spot), and then disappears completely in the evening. This has been repeating the last 3-4 days, and I haven't seen any fry drop. Is it really a female? Why is the gravid spot disappearing and reappearing?

To tell if its a female or not (aside from color and so forth) look at the anal fin where the gravid spot is. If its a regular anal fin, its a female. If you see a male sex organ, well its a boy :)

As for the gravid spot she may be early in pregnancy and its only visible when her belly is loaded with food and pushing the fry in her stomach against her skin.

You may not notice fry because with all of those guppies in there they will eat the fry! You need tons of floating plants etc. to keep even a few of those fry safe. Guppies DO eat their own.

I've had prize winning females drop a single fry, swallow it, drop another, swallow it, etc.

it is unusual. It would not look like she has given initiate... it is in many situations the main seen after eating, and much less seen after she hasn't eaten for a on an comparable time as. it is going to look and disappear, and mutually because it would not disappear, she may be very probable long into her being pregnant. Guppies will devour their fry.

If what you're telling is true, I think your guppy is male. What you're seeing is the internal organs of the fish due to his transparent skin (or whatever you call it).
