Discover, for kids, is a pretty good start. Would you also be interested in websites that are free? I have found some that are really good for kids. Email me if you wish and I will send you some. Also, Komando dot com is good, but it isn't just science per se'.

I use Super Science in my 3rd grade class. The writing is actually a little higher than a 3rd grade level, but the photographs are awesome, and the articles are really interesing. I usually let the students read them on their own and then we come together to talk about them.

Discover is an interesting and fun science magazine and like most magazines it's written on an 8th grade level.

National Geographic has a great magazine. Also, the WWF puts one our for Kids, I think it's call Ranger Rick. Here is the link for NG.

I don't remember but I have seen them. Maybe your public library would know. I do know there are some student science sites on the Internet as well.
