Go to Control Panel and switch to Classic View (top left of the window that opens)
Double-click on System
Click on the Hardware tab that presents itself
Click once on Device Manager
Click on the + sign next to Sound, video and game controllers
Right click on C-Media AC97 Audio Device and select Uninstall
Reboot your computer, and it should auto detect that it has found New Hardware. This will, obviously, be your sound card.
If it doesn't automatically install the drivers for the sound card, it will give you the option to install them.
Hopefully, this will sort out things for you.
