I assume you want a flat roof?

So, take an 8.5 x11 sheet of paper and figure out how to build 4 walls and a roof using exactly the one sheet.

Draw two ribbon that are 2 1/8" x 11" and cut out only 2 1/8" from the end. These will be three of the walls and the roof. The remaining piece has one end that is 4 1/4 " wide by by 2 1/8". Cut it out. This is the fourth wall. Fold the two walls down on each side and fold the little tabs of the walls over to make the third wall. Now you have a roof that is 8 7/8" x 4 1/4" with a three walls attached that are 2 1/8" high. Use 2" of tape to secure the tabs. Add the fourth wall and tape it using 2 pieces of tape 2". Now tape the roof to the fourth wall using 4" of tape. You have a building.

How to figure the dimensions.

If you draw the 4 pieces of paper on a single sheet, you will get the following equations to compute the dimensions.

Wall Height = x
Roof short dimension = y
Roof Long dimension = z

z+x=11"
2x+y=8.5"

Since we're folding the ends of two strips to make three walls, each of the tabs = 1/2 y, or 2x=y

Solve for x, you get 2 1/8" and then use the other equations to solve for y and z.

use the ruler as your base (standing up) and soaringly use the paper. Cut it in strips and tape around the ruler... use paper on the bottom taped to the ruler for support!
goodluck!
