When I go for a run, I sometimes have to take off my ring as it gets loose and slippery on my finger when I'm all sweaty. When I'm done, I put it back on. When my husband has to do mechanical work on submarines, he takes his ring off because it often gets caught on something and this can possibly cause him to get injured. When he's done with the work, he puts it back on. When he and I both go surfing together, we take our rings off cause we don't want to lose them in the water. When we're done, we put it back on. For my husband, it's more of a safety issue. For me, I just don't want to lose an expensive ring during strenous physical activity.

Some may remove their ring if they fear damage to it or taking it off to wash their hands and losing it. Hands may swell in some cases and the ring is tight, or soap or sweating can cause the ring to be very loose. It's really up to the individual. Some rings can become damaged during some chores or physical activities such as gardening or lifting weights or any job that requires a lot of hand use. It's a symbol, it's not the marriage.

It is a personal thing. I rarely ever take my ring off. Only when food stuff with my hands (such as homemade stuffing) because I don't want the food to get stuck in it. My husband takes his off to do dishes, yardwork, showers...etc. I never lose my ring...my husband "misplaces" his all the time, usually being found by our three year old. If it doesn't bother you and will not be damaged, then there is no reason you can't keep it on.

I sometimes take my rings off when I fence. There's no rule about taking or not taking the ring off, it's up to the person. Some rings are more comfortable to wear than others.

You can take your ring off for any activity you want as long as you remember you are married. If you have a hard time remembering you are married then keep the ring on.

Yup, remove it all the time. No way am I going to have a dangling sleeve, bracelet or a wedding ring on when I am using my table saw, lathe, drill press or any type of tool motorized or otherwise.

If you injure take finger, it will swell and the ring will cut into your finger. The ER will cut the ring off to repair the finger.

I "hate" my husband for never wearing a wedding ring, he says it bothers him. He doesn't wear a watch either.
