I have heard from anti-gay persons that, on the issue of equal rights, the majority rules and what is good for the majority is equal.I have in fact heard something along these lines come from another user in a private message.

So I wonder if our founding fathers would be proud that majority may rule over liberty and freedom.Or if the wife of one of histories most loved human rights activists would approve of her husbands dream not being fully realized.Consider these words:

"The majority, oppressing an individual, is guilty of a crime, abuses its strength, and by acting on the law of the strongest breaks up the foundations of society."-Thomas Jefferson

"I still hear people say that I should not be talking about the rights of lesbian and gay people and I should stick to the issue of racial justice," she said. "But I hasten to remind them that Martin Luther King Jr. said, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.'" "I appeal to everyone who believes in Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream to make room at the table of brother- and sisterhood for lesbian and gay people,"-Coretta Scott King

"The whole of that Bill [of Rights] is a declaration of the right of the people at large or considered as individuals...[I]t establishes some rights of the individual as unalienable and which consequently, no majority has a right to deprive them of."-

In that case, I wonder if that person supports segregation. That would have continued without a Supreme Court ruling. It was popular with the majority of people, and many others didn't see a reason to change the system around.

We did no longer have any determination now did we?? The final time India performed an ODI became in early 2013 & that became against England interior the residing house sequence. Now Veeru, Ghauti, Yuvi, Zaheer, Nehra are all out & new workers have are available. It wasn't something we could have anticipated however the selectors have made some sweeping adjustments preserving the 2014 WC in ideas! Its a clean replace now for Rohit Sharma's **** a ring after his fulfillment interior the those days concluded IPL 2013, 6th version. Plus he's taken the further duty of baulking the section!Shikhar Dhawan could continuously have been testing Ghauti's spot for the reason that 2006, whilst Ghauti began failing in his well-known, his (Shikhar's) get entry to has come late into the Indian section yet extra useful late than on no account! he's a swashbuckling participant & is finding like the blended potential of Viru+Ghauti interior the CT 2013! Jadeja has a factor to instruct to boot some contributions interior the decrease order would be necessary in low scoring video games. Dhoni, Raina can the two handbook him as pro execs. India pulled a rabbit out of the hat determining on Dinesh Karthick, he's firing on all cylinders now & is a 2nd keeper determination So the Indian team's batting is impressive yet a substantial Achilles heel is interior the bowling…the final win became by using an extremely few runs & many bowlers did no longer distinguish themselves, specifically Ishant & Umesh. Jadeja & Raina did properly to place the brakes on the scoring, so as which would be a thank you to circulate forward. a sturdy pacer like Shami Ahmed became necessary for this day out

I don't fully understand the trials and tribulations gays, lesbian, transgendered folks, and bisexuals go through, b/c I am not one of them but I do believe in many things the founding fathers said (because they were brilliant) And they spoke strongly of majority rules WITH minority rights. That means that anyone who says the founding fathers supported the majority rules mindset, is misquoting them. I strongly believe in minority rights, its one of the foundations of our country. Don't listen to ignorant people who don't know what they are talking about, arguing with a person of such finite intelligence will only bring you down to their level.

You bring up strong and, in my opinion, correct points. However, no matter what we (you and I) have to say we are the minority. The minority have no power in this form of government. In this increasingly dictatorial government even the majority are losing their pull. More and more power is being given to those who have enough money to buy off the politicians.

Just look at how the government is slowly taking away our “Inalienable” rights as American citizens. Every day they are taking more, trampling on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

No, and if they mean a political majority -- that's coming too -- did you see the joint poll among those 25 and under on gay rights? The numbers no longer support them, even closely, among the young.

Majority rule is not meant to oppress, but to convey the interests of the whole. I think the founding fathers could only plan for their knowledge at that time, and were unable to plan for the peoples' opinions of the future. One must also consider the ideas of chaos and anarchy. Here are some websites that can also offer some thought...

It sounds like someone here is paying attention to some weighty matters.
