I saw someone get beat up in the street today. It was a kid by his dad. I couldn't bear it any longer. I shouted over to tell him to stop. Guess what happened next? The dad comes over to try to give me some. What gives?

As a parent, that's something I could never walk past. I'd take a swift punch in the nose by an idiot man before I let the kid take another. Seems like you are a very kind person. Unfortunitly not enough well-wishers around much these days.

shoulda called the police, his son is probably abused daily for no reason. do what you can when you can, never walk on by, you might see him on the news one day and then feel real guilty like you coulda prevented it. i had a friend whose mom was real abusive and she got put in the hospital and my mom felt horrible for not doing anything when she noticed all the bruises. some people have anger problems and take it out on those they "love" because they know they are inferior to those bigger than them. anger management is needed for that individual, and if you ever see the mother, tell her what you saw, she may not know or care, or be getting it too, but at least you did something!

my dad learned this lesson the hard-way- there was this man beating the hell out of this woman in the middle of a two-way street and my dad being the hero that he is jumped out of the car and punched the guy in his throat, he was turning around to help the woman off the ground and she stabbed him in the back now he's paralyzed, so if i were you and i saw something like this i'd just pray for this person, because to intervene could cost you your life. now my father is a ******* cripple because he tried to help a stranger, i say just put things like that in Gods' hands and know that it's not your fault.

Because of all the laws constricting disciplinary actions today parents feel like them beating their children should be thier own business. HOWEVER I feel like, sure you can do whatever with your children, IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUR OWN HOME. Once you in public, its everyone is business.
You were right to say something, but he was very wrong to try and retaliate against you.

Don't worry though, God will take care of him. And I know God will bless you also.

I hope this helps!

You were right to stop it. No child ever has done anything bad enough to get beat up. This was child abuse. The guy doesn't realize that you could have had him arrested.

You did the right thing. That crazy dad felt you were butting in on his territory but he had no right to be beating his kid in the first place. I couldn't just walk on by either.

You did a deed today. Looks like the kid's dad needs to have his butt kicked.

Violence disempowers everyone. When an adult is beating a child, this is a matter for the authorities to deal with. We are all entitled to live in a safe, violence free world. This includes yourself.

It is a hard situation to be in - for the victim and for you - but cheers to you for standing up for someone who was defenseless. It is the right thing to do - you just may have to take a few to make a few...ya know?
