no, the news is that fanjita and the other dudes, are still working on it, and according to dcemu, fanjita will be releasing the new eloader without the GTA exploit sometime soon, and yes it will include up to 2.71, sorry not for 2.8.

There are currently no downgrader for 2.7+, ull have to wait for that. although when fanjita releases the new eloader ull will be able to play emus on it!! yay!!
