Because they realize there were wrongs committed in the past in the form of slavery and segregation and sexism. And they're trying to find a way to try to help right the wrongs.
Its easy for us white males to say "Oh, this isn't fair. That was all in the past". We don't know what its like to be victims of racism or slavery or segregation- we've had it easy. So its easy for us to whine and complain when affirmative action which is nowhere near what African Americans or women have had to deal with for centuries. We're in NO position to do any complaining.

If conservatives took a stand on racism instead of trying to tell us it dosen't exsit, maybe we would not need affirmative action.
it dosen't reward you for being a certain color, it makes it possible for you to get a job that dosen't involve washing and/or cleaning. Which is way most cons don't like it, they beleive thats where you should be, on your knees.
I think we should put affirmative action in the military, they would have to freeze blacks and hispanics from entering until the white percentage goes way up.
How come Cons aren't complaining that minorities are taknig military jobs from well-qualified whites. I forgot they only want the benifits of capitalism with none of the sacrifice. In a hurry to send people's kids to war but refuse to fight themselves (couCHANEYgh!, couCHANEYgh!)
I'm not suprised you are not discrimanated against, you are not black thats the point!

You need to find out how Affirmative Action really works before you start to over-simplify, and say who it discriminates against. Do your homework, then do the math, you might be surprised. Then again Conservatives don't really care about the welfare of people that are not white, male, and rich. Take time to see Spike Lee's documentary on New Orleans after Katrina. U might really find out who we have in the White House! White House...Hmmmm!

Once again some restuplican who doesnt understand how anything works. It rewards minoritys who have stood out in their group to become somthing better. It is a way to try to say here look what will happen if you work hard. Its suppose to be a way to help bring those minority groups up. Though alot of the time it doesnt.

FOR REAL!!! Jesse Jackson is the most racist public figure I've ever seen! What is the difference between "not giving someone a job because of their race/sex" and "giving someone a job just because of their race/sex" Whatever, when will we learn that in trying to fight racism, you are actually encouraging it.
If someone doesn't want to hire you because of your race/sex, why would you want to work for the dumb Bastard anyway??

I'm a liberal, and I don't really support affirmative action. It seems good on paper, but it doesn't really work out very well when put into practice.
Way to go with the overgeneralization, though.

specific they do however the counter is rather easy. in simple terms say to your self, "i do no longer supply a f*ck" say it, and be it. Liberal application defeated. in simple terms give up enjoying alongside. mothers and fathers learn how to music out the ineffective noise of infants and infants do the comparable for barking mothers and fathers, you do the comparable for liberals. it is that common.
