click start then run and type in msconfig. then go to start up tab and uncheck all the boxes except your antivirus and firewall. This will free up a ton of system memory. It will require that you open programs manually that you usually just click on though as it turns all unnecessary stuff off. Great way to get zoom out of the system though

Have you cleaned your cookies or your temporary internet files out? When you go to a website, your computer stores a picture of that page, this way next time you go to that website it can load up faster, but when you don't clean it out often, it will build up and can cause your computer to go slow. To clean it out, open up your internet browser, click on 'Tools' at the top of the window, then go down and click 'internet options', then a window will pop up. In the middle of that window you should see a section that says 'Temporary Internet Files', and there should be an option where you can delete the cookies and the files. Just click both of those buttons, and it should clear it out. Then, you may want to click 'Settings', and where it says 'Amount of disk space to use' set it to about 20 MB, and then in the future it won't take that much space up...then you may just want to clean it out like once a month. If that doesn't fix the problem, you may also have spyware on your computer, just go to www.lavasoft.com and click on Adaware personal, you can download this software for free and it will clean out and protect you from spyware... Running a defrag will help as well, go to 'start', then 'programs', and then 'accessories', then go to 'system tools', and click disk defragmenter. This should take at the least 30 minutes, but is very good for your computer, you should do this often as well, it will really help your computer run a lot smoother... hope this helps!

You most likely have spy ware and a couple of viruses. Go too www.avg.com and download the free version plus go out and buy Norton anti virus programs. You can also go too www.ewido.com and download their free version of antispyware products. Once you have down loaded all of these click on the icons for each of the products and run full system scans and delete or quarantine items and delete cookies. A cookie is a spy ware product that attaches itself after you open a email so it can see what sites you go too and send you spam email about products related to those sites. And last but not least close all of your windows and click on the start bar on the bottom left hand side of your screen then go to programs and click that then look for accessories and click that it will take you to a defragger program. Open that up and defrag your computer. Doing these things should fix you right up and your computer will speed up a lot. I hope this helps you.

It sounds like you may have some spyware issues, since you stressed it mostly happens when you are online. Get these three programs:
Spybot Search and Destroy
Adaware
Ewido from www.ewido.net
These are free downloads. Run them and see what it finds. After running these and deleting any/all spyware you should then run the disk cleaning utility from the Start/All Program /Accessories/System Tools followed by a defrag.
Do all of this and you should be up to snuff.

Sometimes that is normal. When you go online, your computer saves all the images and files you see in a temporary files folder and a "cookies" folder. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, then click Delete Cookies, Clear History, and Delete Files. If this is a really huge problem for you I would get more memory (RAM) for the computer.

Try using a spyware search program like AdAware or Spybot: Search and Destroy.
The amount of spyware on your system could be slowing you down. As for connection speed, just depends on the speed of your connection and how busy the website you are visiting is.

you may have unnecessary programs running in the background, or your internet may be using up a ton of your memory.
if you're using internet explorer, go to internet options, general, temporary internet files and settings. set the maximum amount of disk space use to as low as possible.
