I once heard that gold weighs more than anything else ...like more grams per oz.Does anyone know about this?

I know this question sounds ridiculous...but I was once told a long time ago that gold is measured by a different standard of measurment than other things .....like I lost a bet when asked the question of which weighs more an oz.of gold or an oz. of feathers,Of course I was willing to bet that they weighed the same ....

Gold, (and silver) are traditionaly measured, in the ounce TROY.
A troy ounce, is equal to 31 grammes. a normal cooking ounce, is 28 grammes, so there is a difference!
Pure gold has a high specific gravity and density, a cube, only six inches, by six inches, buy six inches is all a man could lift.
All the gold ever mined would make a cube that fits under the iffel tower, within the dimensions of the legs.
The most heavy metal, per square inch of it, is plutonium, followed platinum, then gold, then silver. (Osmium, iridium, and a few other "iums" are grouped with platinum).
The purity of gold, in a gold alloy, is defined as 24ths. These are called carats. So pure gold is 24 carats. Mix some other metals, to make jewellery, you can lower it to 18/24ths...or, 18 carats pure. Then 14 carat (14/24ths pure) and european 9 carat (9/24ths pure)..thats about a third! (37.5% pure!).
Diamonds are Weighed in carats, a carat being 0.2 of a gramme.
So in diamonds, carat is a physical weight, in gold or silver, its how many parts per 24 (total) pure the alloyed product is.
This isnt pasted off the net, i'm a jeweller of 20 years experience!

A pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of gold. A gram of gold = a gram of feathers. Pounds, grams and ounces are all measures of weight.

Gold and feathers have different densities. A pound of feathers will take up more space than a pound of gold.

Gold is one of the most dense natural substances.

Gold is definitely denser than most other solids, but it is not the most dense. All elements are weighed the same. Density is defined as mass/volume. People often confuse weight with mass, but weight is dependent upon gravity, which is why things weigh less on the moon.

Precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and, palladium, are measured in troy ounces as opposed to (standard) weight.
There are something like 31 grams in an ounce, as opposed to 28.4 in a regular ounce.

Listen to yourself. Grams per oz? That's like saying it has more quarts per gallon.

Let me ask you this, and we'll se if you still don't get it.

Which weighs more, 1 pound of feathers, or 1 pound of lead?

You didn't lose the bet. You were scammed. Weight NEVER depends on what you are weighing.

All materials have different DENSITIES if that's what you mean. I really don't think gold is the heaviest element.

Yes it does because all objects have different mass sizes and so different weights.
