I know you asked for American opinions but:

How nice to hear something so gracious from a young American male! We (Canadians) are fortunate to have such talented artists and we like to share! Many of America's favourite entertainers from the dawn of the last century were / are Canadian. I think that good music is universal and translates regardless of the country of origin. I am much older so my appreciation for all things musically Canuck goes way way way back to before the dawn of Rap (gotta love the Sugarhill Gang even if not Cdn) when rock ruled - The Guess Who, BTO, The Band - but Canadians don't have certain urban experiences that Urban Americans have - I am not saying there isn't gang violence (didn't used to be but y'all influence us too) - The rap scene in Canada will never write about certain things or they would be seen as posers. Check out Mocha Only and Swollen Members for good Cdn rap!

I'm Canadian and I think all the good stuff is coming from the States and Britain. Many Canadians, actually violently, hate Nickelback. I went to the University of Lethbridge, which is very close to their home town and there is a large following of anti Nickelbackers out there close to their home.

I only wish we were producing bands like the White Stripes, Raconteurs, Libertines, Dirty Pretty Things, Babyshambles, Interpol, The Strokes, the Rakes, etc.

I am much older than 14.....but i have been a huge music fan since around 14. Over the years the majority of not only popular music but great music has come from Canada. I have always said that if i had to choose one country that i had to listen to music from exclusively, I have always said it would be Canada. From the start of rock to punk to pop to country Canadian music is amazing!!!! Our music scene is more about talent instead of image (there are exceptions of course).

Good music comes from all over the world.

(I personally don't like any of the above bands.)
