easy, ditch windows me.....god that is by far the worst distro ever...

ME does suck. The worst OS Microsoft ever put out. There are several versions of winsock. Some programs will edit Microsoft's default one for various applications, which can really screw you up.
The best way is to download winsock.dll from the internet, then manually replace the corrupt one with the new one.
