Make sure your tires have enough air, don't drive too fast, don't brake too hard, make sure your car is in good running condition, those are the most common sense things. Oh, DON'T USE AIR CONDITIONING, it's a guzzler!

There are a number of things you can do.
1). Buy a high gas mileage vehicle.
2). No jack rabbit starts.
3). Let no one else intimidate you into speeding.
4). Do not speed! Never go faster that 55 miles and hour.
The faster you go the faster your gas will go even for the same
number of miles.
5). Use air conditioner only when you absolutely must.
6). Never drive with windows down. This converts your car into
something like a parachute.

Most are good answers.
One more good tip, especially in hot climates.
Keep the tank full. Less evaporation of precious gas! So think of filling up when you are at the 3/4 mark instead of driving around on a quarter of a tank.

-When I see a red light up ahead, it could be 200 yards away, I let off the gas and just coast to the light. If it turns green before I get there, my car is already moving at a considerable speed, so it doesn't use up as much gas accelerating to get going from a dead stop. If you think about it, it also saves your brakes from wearing.
-When you're coming to a stop sign and there are 2, 3 ,4 cars waiting in line, slow down, or coast. Time it so you'll get to the stop line just as the car in front of you has already gone through. If you "hurry up" just to wait in line, you have to stop & go and stop & go until it's your turn. Each time you accelerate from a dead stop, you're using extra gas (a whole lot).
-I hate it when no one's in front of me and I'm slowing down for a stop sign. I follow the rules and make a complete stop. A stupid jerk comes flying up on my a** slams on his brakes and waits for me to go. I drive a couple of more blocks to the next stop sign and there he is, on my a** again. The guy knows I'm going to make a complete stop. Why couldn't he just time it.

don't use your break that much like don't ease up and then break. using your breaks takes gas so even a little stop go stop is wasting gas. Electric things in yourn car are is using your car battery not gas, going fast is good as long as you don't have to slam on the breaks if you are in traffic you are going to waste gas.

Drive like you have a cup of coffee on the dashboard and you don't want to spill it. Take off with ease and accelerate slowly

Drop you speed back, don't accelerate hard on take off.
Dropping back from 70 to 55 is a big savings, if you have the time.

Brave the heat/cold. Running your a/c and to a lesser degree the heat brings down your mileage.

Drive the limit. Once you start speeding up, you burn more gas.
