Well, first thing is Bush is already on his 2nd term he can't run again. The American public will vote for whichever polititian tells the best lies; it happens all the time! All those scumballs are really interested in is extending their terms indefinately. Professional polititians; Kennedy & others, should be shot!!!

Once again, I have to correct the record. A president does not pass laws, the Congress does. President Bush does not control economic policy. Here is why the gas prices went up.
1. The EPA changed the MTBE requirement to ethanol. There was not enough ethanol supply to meet the demand. Also, it took a while to change over to ethanol. Also, there are heavy import duties that make it near impossible to get ethanol internationally.
Understanding that, here is why gas prices are so high:
1. There are more than 50 different blends of gas in the US. It costs a lot to have that. SOLUTION 1 national blend
2. Gas taxes are variable. Federal is about 18 cents, but the state taxes go up as the price goes up. CT has one of the highest gas taxes in the US. We pay around $1 a gallon. For all those who lie about excessive profits, go after the government because they make more than anyone else on gas. Having gas taxes are needed because in theory they should pay for roads. This is the most direct way to handle roads. I doubt that all the money taken in goes to roads.
3. There has not been a refinery built in the US in 30 years. Did you know that? Supply and demand. The demand has gone up dramatically in the last 30 years, but there is no more refining capacity.
4. Americans do not drill for oil in America. We have capitalist hating tree hugging environmentalist wackos stopping it. We do not have enough politicans with a spine to do anything about it.
5. Deal with the 4 above and watch prices plummet. We live in a free market system and this is how things work.
As for will Americans vote for another President Bush NO. Here is why
1. Americans are tired of the excessive government spending and Pres Bush has enabled this. He is a big government Republican.
2. He has not defended himself against the flat out false lies the media has put on him.
3. Massive entitlements: prescription drugs paid by the government.
Americans will vote in someone who:
1. Defends this country (like Bush). This includes taking out every government with force that threatens us. This will include Iran, Syria, North Korea, Venezuela. Not all will need to be by force. If we dealt with the oil problem, Iran and Venezuela fall apart. Our next President will finish what Bush started. The UN can go to hell and so can the French and any other liberals out there.
2. Continue real tax reform. Not only cut taxes like Bush, but stop spending. Stop giving entitlements like free drugs, healthcare, retirement. Government's job is to defend us, not provide what people are not willing to earn.

I'm glad you are concerned about your spelling, now if you only understood economics you would have something. The President does not set the price for gas. If you check, Oil is traded on the world market. Oil has increased for everyone, not just you. We in the United (albeit high) are still enjoying much lower gas prices than most people in the world. So yes I would vote for another George Bush type person.

Granted it isnt directly Bush's fault for the prices going up its only the unstableness the caused throughout the middle east which is causing the stock traders to run the prices up to make sure they cover themselves in case of some sort of shortage that is running them up. So its a multitude of things but it sure as hell isnt supply and demand

Sounds like many of my fellow posters have the same answer I feel is right. Leogirl is right we in the U.S. are spoiled (sorry you asked) when I lived in Germany in the 80s they paid over 7US$ a US gallon. We all rode bicycles in our power suits wearing tennies and putting on our pumps when we got there. We rode the bahnhoff everywhere. It was fun it was healthy!
Do you still drive an SUV? What have you done to cut your fuel use? Stop complaining & do something!

Don't apologize for your spelling...apologize for the question. You know, you can't blame Bush for everything under the Sun. Maybe you should lay some of the blame on former President (I never had sex with that woman) Clinton.

How can you be so uninformed?
