Step nr. 1--you narrow your topic do0wn---the question is pretty broad. A Modern Moral Lesson Learned From Your Family would be too broad a topic. So narrow it down to 1 specific thing: Since I am not sure what your teacher is looking for you could for example write on how your parents teach you to look at people of different ethnic or racial backgrounds. Once you narrowed your topic to one specific one, you go and try to pin down supporting details---for example, you can bring in how your dad expresses his belief about other people and then show how that influences your perception of the same group. This is just to explain how you could build your paper.
So step nr. 2 is to pin down 2 supporting details for each fact. Ok, say, you think the Mexicans ought to leave this country because your perception was influenced by your dad's statement. So you support this by telling the reader that because of this you were thinking that Mexicans were -- let's say thieves, drug addicts, no good bums. Use fancy words when you use an example: for instance, for example, because of this reason.... Do not repeat the same words over and over. For each 2 supporting details you have a paragraph, and you need to stick tightly to these 2 supporting details in a paragraph.

When introducing your paper, you can take something that is totally opposite. Or you can take an example of the Mexicans next door, how they work, are respectful, or you can take a question and elaborate on it. I used to start my intro with a funny event that related to the issue I was talking about, then wrote my 3 paragraphs. In any case, also end each paragraph(including the intro), with a sentence that smoothly points to what's coming next.
To conclude your essay you go ahead and write a short summary of what you told the reader. Be brief in that, just point out the lesson you learned of that.

If you have difficulties writing your paper, send me an e-mail. The main thing is that I didn't listen in your class and therefore am not sure what the teacher wants to see.....and Good luck
