Why do they makes us bug out and think there's gonna be a disaster?! I'm sick of people buying so much gas there's not enough for everyone else! damnit!! Then to top it all off, you go to the grocery store to get something dumb like a toothbrush and you have to wait in line for an hour cause everyone has to buy water and batteries and crap!

There you go angry. Why did you say that if you got my point? They shouldn't do this at the last minute

Oh, lighten up! My toothbrush fell in the toilet so I had to wait in line for an hour at publix to buy one so I was aggravated. RELAX people!

Being prepared is a good thing but obviousely the question should be why don't people prepare yourselves a little better than waiting until the last minute. I would have a hurricane emergency kit. Might help to ease off on all the chaos. I don't live in florida.

No offense - - but as a Florida Resident Myself -- the Hurricane Preparations are part of life for living down here - - and to have your Hurricane Kit ready IS YOUR PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY! Water, Batteries, Cleaning Supplies, Fuel for Generators, Canned Goods, shelf-stable foods, etc -- all part of our life.

Then ... given this -- what is your question anyway? That there are folks out there who do not prepare in advance and then go to the store at the last minute? There will always be people like that, who wait to the last minute and then complain that supplies are NOT there. Me, I prefer to plan ahead -- did my Hurricane Kit and Protection early, and am ready for this entire season -- because in the past two seasons, major hurricanes have come right through my area. For 72 Hours of Generator running -- YES, one is going to purchase about 6-8 FULL 5 Gallon Cans of Gasoline to run the average portable generator before one can be reached by the emergency responders after a storm. And yes, I do have my own generator and have stocked up fuel for the season as well also.

So BE PREPARED!

No offense, but isn't your question answered within its self? If they believe its going to be disaster where there is significant risk of losing life and property wouldn't you want them to tell you? I would think you would rather be ready and not have to be, then the other way around. Although there are some that turn out to be routine and not too bad, there have been quite a few that there would have been far more death and injury if they had not informed everyone. I agree that people should be more prepared more a head of time so you wouldn't have so much confusion and so many long lines.

Hi Nicole, I'm in Florida too and know what you mean about frustration..we have repeated this over and over again getting ready for a storm..and then sometimes they don't arrive...LUCKY US..but sometimes they DO ARRIVE....and we better have all the necessities...I keep a list of all we need and in the beginning of June when the storm season starts I make sure we have everything all prepared so we can be ready for these times ...but some things like fuel and other things can't be purchased until the last minute...after seeing what happened to New Orleans...all of us must be prepared and thankful we didn't suffer like they did...let's hope Florida gets a break this year...see you in the Walmart line..lol
