It doesnt matter. Its just a bullshit topic to stir up republican support before an election. They trot out the big three every election, gay marriage, gas prices, and terrorists.

I am assuming you are refering to gay marriage. Marriage is a sacred institution that dates back many centuries. God made us male and female and made it such that you need 1 of each to reproduce. 92% of people are heterosexual.
There has been a serious assault on the family: children with 1 mom and 1 dad. 70% of black children are born out of wed lock. It takes 2 parents to raise a child. Nature folks, I can only say that so many times.
The problem with gay marriage is 80% of Americans are against it. It is not a Republican or Democrat problem. They have this for a variety of reasons. My opinion is homosexuality is not normal, I do not accept it, and I do not care what 2 adults do. I do not want to see Adam and Steve making out, anymore than Adam and Eve.
The gay movement has used the courts, media, entertainment industry, and liberals to push this acceptance and tried to normalize homosexuality as something it is not: widespread.
I will be called all kinds of names for this and I do not care.
From a legal standpoint, gay marriage has been legalized in MA in a way that violates the Constitution. Here is how. The legislature has the ability to pass laws. The courts interpret whether that law violates the Constitution (state or federal depending on where the case is). In MA, the courts decided that they were going to make the laws and said screw you to the legislature. We have allowed the courts to make too many laws and not impeached these frauds. There are many cases on this including Roe v Wade.
If you want a law passed in America, do it through the legislative process. This will never fly anywhere and the gays know it.
As for civil unions, I live in CT and from what I know the law legalizing civil unions viloates the equal protection clause of the Constitution. Here is why: All citizens must be treated equally under the law. By passing the civil unions for gays only, you are giving them favorable treatment.
What needs to happen is some laws need to be changed.
1. Remove all taxes on estates (called the death tax). If someone acquires wealth, they should be able to keep it. I am sick of money grubbers thinking they can take my money. This would help gays tremendously
2. Allow anyone to have whomever they want see them in the hospital.

Because republicans are nothing but a corrupt religion based group who trys to pray on the people who were around "before" homosexuality was as out in the open as it is today. For them to get married isnt giving anyone special treatment its treating everyone the same.

Why? To encourage pro-creation, and to maximize the likelihood that those kids will grow up healthy, and eventually be successful productive adults who enhance our society and culture.
Not all married couples produce children, but all children are the product of one man and one woman. Couples don't have to get married to produce children, but married couples on average have better, more stable relationships, and are in a better position to provide for their children.
All of the above improves the future of the country, and that is the state interest.

They also stir up the abortion issue before an election. I am more affected by the price of gas than "special marriages", how 'bout you?

It's all hypocritical B.S.; the same conservatives who rail against homosexuals' 'depraved' lifestyles also make it illegal for them to settle down and get married.
But then again, no one ever accused those people of excessive logical consistency....!
