Sorry it's getting late, Do you think it's healthier to be overweight or to be a smoker!

Depends on how obese and how much is smoked. Some one who smokes a half a pack a day will probably outlive his 500 pound friend.

My son in law says that he will take a smoker anyday over an obese person.........there is a 100% chance an obese person with have major health issues.....and less of a chance for a smoker...is this true???????? I don't know, but i do know I am a smoker and will be going in for tests just to be sure there is no hardening of the arteries, etc.......they think it might be the beginning of COPD....coronary obstruction of pulmonary disease (I think)....I am 65 and have been smoking since age 15!!!!!!!! sounds to me like you lose both ways, but mine may be slower ?????

Generally a smoker would be fitter than a fat person, but a slim non smoker would be fitter and live longer!

as far as looks....well a thin smoker would look better than a fatty for sure. it is one thing to be a bit chubby, but a person that is obese to me is really in need of finding the strength to stop eating and get active.

i would have to go with the smoker being more fit...because even though they would both be short of breath the obese person would have more weight to carry around..and potentially more health problems as the smoker

before i got pregnant i was a pack a day smoker and a heavy drinker. i weighed 65 lbs. less than i do now as a non-smoker, non-drinker... i felt better, looked better, and was generally happier about myself (physically), the way i felt and my appearance, back then. but i can feel better about myself as a person now. the weight will surely come off, i'm trying!!

smokers are more fit. Look at George Burns, he smoked all the time and lived a long long time... How many fat people do you see in their 90's?
