Do you think it's okay to name a girl with a first name that ends in "tte" even if our last name ends that way too?

I'm not a fan of any tte girls name... but that shouldn't matter to you... most importantly say the name aloud. Ask yourself, do you like it, does it sound okay, how will the children on the playground make fun of this name, is this a name that both a little girl and a grown woman can carry around....
you'll find the name you want if you do all of that.

I don't see why that would be a problem. When we were thinking of names for our boys, one of the names we almost went with ended with the same letters as our last name. We ended up not using it though because we invited our most obnoxious friend over and asked him to go though our list and tell us what horrible things other kids would do to the names. *lol* Some of our favorite choices were quickly sent to the NO column.

I'd recommend everybody do this... it saves tears later on... although every name will end up being abused by kids at school, some names are just so much easier to turn into something nasty.

When I named my kids I tried to choose something that would sound good if they ended up being president. For example, to me, a name like Chloe or Phoebe would sound funny as a presidents name. They may never end up being president, but they could end up being in a powerful position in a company or anything. To me a person named Phoebe or Chloe, would be hard to take seriously.

It depends on the name, but it might sound too close to her last name & kids might make fun of her in school.

She's your child. She won't be in kindergarten forever, or in grade school, so who cares about getting made fun of. MOST kids get made fun of for one reason or another. If you teach her to be a confident woman, it won't matter what her name is - people will respect her.
