Its about the spirit of Santa and Xmas being a time to give and receive. The thought of a middle aged man coming into your house and leaving presents, and not a phoedophile, is a lovely idea. Let kids have their childhood, and fill it with as much happiness as possible and some magic.

Tradition...a way to encourage and reward good behavior and explain lack.
I told my son Santa was the spirit of giving and that anyone could play Santa. But encouraged him not to tell the other kids. He knew what was up and we still did the whole Santa thing. I think it was more meaningful for him because he could see that real human beings were showing their generosity when playing Santa.

Santa is very real. He's the Spirit of Christmas, he's a big part of what makes Christmas so wonderful. He's someone who only wants to make life magical and special for everyone.

No, he's not a physical being that actually delivers presents. But he is still real. It's all a matter of how you look at it.

Would you be able to tell a child the truth about santa if they already believe in him?

It makes Christmas more exciting for the children.

Somebody tried the same thing with God, but forgot to mention that he is imaginary as well and now you have millions of people living a lie.
