The US isn't a democracy. It's technically a democratic republic with oligarchic tendencies. That means we elect representatives who vote in our interest unless someone with more money influences them otherwise. When I became a US citizen, I was asked this question and asked to compare it to the United Kingdom’s government.

Great observation! Is it really a democracy in a nation where Presidential all candidates are rich (top 1% of the population) and need to raise (from other millionaires) at least 50 million dollars to even consider running? I don't know, but that doesn't define democracy to me.

I would so agree with what GJ said it is just that its a good cop bad cop thing so no matter what we do we will always get the same thing why do you think we dont get anywhere with the government cause they never listen they do what they want when the elections come up they say they will be there for you but all it is, is a big lie

Well, we are actually a republic, but that's another story.
We can call ourselves a democracy because we make the choice of who's in office. An independent could win, but people make the choice to vote for the candidate they know best.

great commentary! Is it fairly a democracy in a rustic the place Presidential all applicants are wealthy (incredible a million% of the inhabitants) and would enhance (from different millionaires) a minimum of 50 million funds to even evaluate working? i do no longer comprehend, yet that would not define democracy to me.

The USA is not a democracy, it is a representative
republic. Look it up on Yahoo Search.

It's really just a one party, good cop/bad cop system. People just haven't woken up to this yet. They would rather believe that they are making a choice and root for the home team.

Well surely in this if and then system of government that we have the answer is just to throw it out. Lets all make a habit of throwing out the baby with the bathwater. The press has a liberal bias so lets just get rid of the press. Speaking of babies why do we waste our time washing them when we can throw them out when they get dirty and make more.
