While some swelling is normal during pregnancy, being very swollen this early isn't.
You need to call your OBGYN and tell them. Try to get an appointment as soon as you can. I have a daughter who has had the same problem with all of her pregnancies and she has had to have 2 C-Sections because of it. The children are fine and s is she but the swelling can lead to serious complications.

Good Luck

I have to tell you, I was SO swollen in my pregnancy that my doctor thought I had pre-eclampsia, but luckily I didn't. I tried EVEYTHING to help the swelling, resting, elevating my legs, nothing worked. I think th eonly thing you can do is to cut WAY back on salty foods. In hindsight, I should've done this, and will for the next one.

Very swollen this early is something to go to the doctor for. They will need to check your blood pressure and protein in your urine for possible preeclampsia. Relax, it is probably just the heat, but get in to see your doctor as soon as possible just to rule everything else out. In the meantime, pregnancy support hose or knee-highs can help, as can drinking more water and limiting your salt intake (both within reason, it is not healthy to go overboard on either).

Put your feet up on a couple of pillows.... Those blue gel ice packs help too, but the best thing and I don't know how feasible this is for you- but a good leg massage always helped me. good luck with the rest of your pregnancy

You have to lay off the sodium and increase your potassium. Try eating 2 bananas a day. I had the same problem during my prengnacy Its all about what you eat and drink. You may also need to drink more water as well because water retention is a sign of dehydration. Lemon water also helps get rid of water weight quickly.
Congrats! and enjoy your pregnancy!

They have these special leggings for pregnant women with your problem. Not the best in the summer, but it does help and I would definitely consider wearing them to keep varicose veins to a minimum. I'm not sure what they're called. My cousin wore them, but if you checked with your doctor, I'm sure he/she could point you in the right direction.

Contact your ob-gyn promptly. Ankle swelling is ok, but if legs are involved then it's best to get checked out your doctor. Call for medical advice. Good luck.

Hey! I personally can't advise you very well, but this website has all kinds of tools like tracking your babies development by its due date, and bulletin boards to post these kinds of questions. My cousin used this site when she was pregnant and she gained support and lots of random things that older women told her about. I hope this is helpful.
