Outlook express stops receiving emails after virus alert?

After Yahoo mail service detected a virus in a message attachment, outlook express does not download any more messages from yahoo webmail.

That is correct. If Outlook Express detects a virus, it disconnects from the e-mail server and does not download any more mail to protect you.

Go to your Yahoo email and delete the message with the virus. Outlook should then work again. If not, recreate the account to your Yahoo mail.
