Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish!!!!
I was a punk rocker when the very first bands like 'The Sex Pistols', 'Clash', 'Xray Specs', etc., were new. I never had, nor know of any punkrocker who had flowers in their hair, like you said maybe a safety pin in their nose, or an ear or even lip,(and sometimes with a chain hanging from it).
But yes, I agree what a crap song!!!

Oh yeah chic, I really cannot stand her drivel!!!
The next song to be released is just as pathetic... I think it's called what if I'm wrong.(Which I may be) It's all about how her world would be perfect and how guys would respect and look after her. Gee girl, get real, I've never met anyone like that and I'm certainly not holding my breath waiting for some pathetic li'l puke that will tell me anything just to get into my panties.
Be strong and self sufficient.... All you need are batteries! (and something other than a radio to put 'em in I guess)

She's too young to remember 1969 or 1977 and is confusing punks with hippies. Someone should have advised her to rewrite the lyrics before she made a fool of herself, but it's too late now.

ditto what pretty much everyone else has said - i can't stand her or that song!
To the guy who said "it plays in my head and makes we want to slit my wrists while setting myself on fire"; personally i'd rather slit HER wrists and bathe her in petrol then torch her hair and shoot her in the stomach and when the fire's burnt out cut off her head and limbs and put all 6 pieces of her in a nuclear waste container then have it filled with radioactive sludge and buried. And thats if i'm in a generous mood

I think it is a juvenile way of expressing a lament for the lack of excitement in modern music, citing both these years as times of pinnacles in youth movements.
But it is a truly dreadful lyric, even by pop standards.
I cringe when I hear it.

She was not alive when the punk rock era was here. And i agree that it is garbage to say they wore flowers in their hair.
Which self respecting punk ever wore flowers?

Yeah! We should start a club! She is clearly confused and perhaps a little bit stupid; I mean, punks, in 1969?
And she might be alright, but because that was her first single I now refuse to listen to her new one (it doesn't help that it is called 'What if I'm right', when she clearly isn't!).
