yes, the sperm does 'decide' what sex baby you have. the man will have half boy sperm & half girl sperm in there - meaning its a 50/50 chance of what sex you get - just like tossing a coin.

there are many myths of how you can help chose your babys sex. some include having sex in different possitions, the woman eating certian things or even havign sex on differnt days of the year - regardless of where you are in your cycle. they are only myths.

the one scientific way to influence gender is in the timing of when you have sex. boy sperm on average are faster & die quicker than girl sperm - girl sperm on average are slower & live longer than boy sperm. that is a general fact - not a absloute rule.

if you want a girl baby you should have sex through the month & get an ovulation kit - once the lady ovulates have no more sex. the boy sperm will die off leaving the girl sperm to get at the egg.

if you want a boy baby, you should avoid sex then have loads when the lady ovulates - the girl sperm will hang about chatting while the boy sperm race to the egg...

however there are no sure ways to get a certian gender - at least not unless a petri-dish is involved.

Sperm are split evenly between X (girl makers) and Y (boy makers) chromosome carrying. X's are minimally heavier which in turn makes them a bit slower. It also makes them heartier. Even though the sperm is the deciding factor, many other factors come into play on the way from testes to conception. Such as the time span between intercourse sessions and the pH in the vagina. Even the diets of the parents.

Remember even if you go to great lengths to conceive one sex or the other, it may not happen as you want it to. After all, I have 3 boys and I tried what I could to get a daughter the 3rd time around.

Male sperm are faster, but shorter living, so to conceive a boy you want to do the baby tango the day you ovulate, and the day afterwards. Abstain for the 3 days before that. That'll give the male sperm first go at the egg since they will make it up to the egg first. The reason you abstain for the 3 days before is because you dont want the female sperm waiting for the egg.

About 50/50. Male sperm, from what I have read, are faster but weaker. The females are heartier but slower, so both have around a 50/50 chance of making it to the egg first. There are some in-vitro options in which they can seperate most of the sperm from females and males which, when injected, could raise your chance of concieving a child of your choice of gender.
