You reminded of this book I read many years ago, there is an interesting section in the book about what happens to vampires when thry ingest bad blood. This is a good book, read it if you dare!

I think vampires can tell when blood is bad, sort of the way we can smell sour milk or chicken that is too old. We wouldnt drink the sour milk just as they wouldnt feast on diseased blood. Vampires are said to be a very sophisticated, clean breed, thus they would most certainly stay away from blood that is not so.
