In the past, one's name was one's occupation. If a man's name was Miller. He owned a mill and milled corn or wheat. Farmer worked on a farm... ETC...

Also one's name was where he was from. Like Davenport. The original Davenport came from a port on the river Daven in England.

Well, my name is Sophia... and I am an aspiring Sociologist. Apparently, my name means 'wisdom', and Philosophy and all of the sub categories are the roots of that. I make no sense. But I still believe that names do not correspond with the career.
