The South and East coasts are great. Go for little quaint villages where everything is genuine and people are so nice.
We've been back to Spain many times, and still enjoy places like Tarifa, Almunecar, Altea....
Get to know Portugal as well ....it is next door and a bit different.
Treat yourself with a good travel book on Spain and Portugal, it is worth the expense and you will learn a lot;depending on what your interests are, it will help you find the <>.

Not all cities, but I would suggest checking out the list of World Heritage sites in Spain at http://www.spain.info/TourSpain/Arte+y+Cultura/Patrimonio+de+la+humanidad/?Language=en
Madrid is a good walking city with great night life, has terrific museums, and is surrounded by good places for full and half-day trips (Toledo, Avila, Segovia, El Escorial, Chinchon, etc.). Hot in summer cold in winter.
Barcelona is more cosmopolitan, has great architecture, and is on the coast. Weather is mild through most of the year, though hot in summer.

do no longer omit the AlHambra palace in Granada, make certain you get your tickets ahead. In Cordoba do no longer omit the Grand Mosque and the previous city. Beside that, walk on the previous bridge and bypass to the Tower's museum. enjoy your holiday and consume properly.

I am not sure of a lot of places... But I have have been to Lloret de Mar. It was fun. It was right on the beach, lots of things to do, the Sangria was excellent. Not very far from Barcelona.
