I have been working on this problem for days and can't solve it nor can anyone else so far. I have created a 11 slide PowerPoint presentation with animation and music clips. The music clips are downloaded midi files and are LINKED to the presentation. Instead of linking I want to EMBED those music clips in order to travel with the presentation but can't find the instructions on how to do that and so far no one else knows either yet Microsoft says it can be done but doesn't really tell how to do it. I also need to know how to embed or link PowerPoint Player to the presentation so that people who receive it in their email can play it even if they don't have PowerPoint installed.

Midi and other sound files are linked if they exceed the limit set in the Tools >> Options >> General tab settings. Make sure you bump this value up.

Once you bump that up, you should then be able to go to the Insert >> Movies and Sound >> Sound from file and then select the midi you want to embed. This will then popup a message asking if you want it to start automatically or when you click it.

This will embed the sound file into your presentation and you are good to go. I have added a link that mentions embedding sound files into your presentations.

Enjoy!

Here is some information.

You may also want to try packaging it for a cd so that your music plays with your presentation.
These directions are for 2002 and 2003. If you have anything older than that, well....all I can wish you is luck.

this technique in simple terms places a shortcut to the music in this technique. when you create the presentation, positioned it and a duplicate of the music right into a folder on your computing device, then burn the folder to the CD, yet be sensible to apply the "kit for CD" function.
