It can be a little scary in the aspect that you are going to a new school with a ton of new people and new teachers. But think of it this way ... Didn't you go to a new school for Middle School? Or even Elementary School?
To have a good first year of High School I would suggest:
1) Do well in your classes
-This will make your parents happy and happy parents let their children do more things than unhappy parents.
2) Enjoy time with your friends
- This can be at lunch time, after school, before school, weekends ... what ever the time these are the memories you will keep for life.
3) Join a Club or two.
- Find something you like to do and see if they have a club for it at your high school. This will be a great way to make friends and an even better way to find fun new activities to do. (Plus they sometimes get you out of class without you getting in trouble.)
Just relax and realize that there is an entire group of freshmen just like you coming into the school at the same time and they are just as nervous as you are. You will do fantastic!

The first few days were scary for me when I was a freshman. You don't know the layout of the school. If your late teachers are understanding the first couple of days but dont make it a habit. Respect the upperclass men. Dont act like your all cool because you will be singled out as a target. Be organized. Always come with the proper materials as teachers are crabby about loaning things out. Take notes half the time and listen to the teacher the other half. DO YOUR HOMEWORK, teachers don't chase after you for a missed essay or something you get a zero. Study for tests in sections dont cram you remember better if you study a little each day before a test. Use your planner to keep track of projects, homework and tests. DO projects before they are due trust me you don't want to pull an all nighter. Join clubs and socialize. Have fun but get your work done.

The 1st day of school is kind of scary. It is because of all the new things.
I would stay organized know about your classes and where they are. Get a class organizer and know when you will have exams. Get involved in some school activities and make some friends. Try not to worry about groups just make friends. Be kind to others because if you do it will never come back to bite you. Being mean to someone never makes things work in the long run.
Just if you can get some cute clothes for the 1st days, a pair of shoes. Call friends from your previous school to see if you can meet up with them. It just eases the transition a bit. Think about packing your lunch because high school food can make students gain a ton of weight.
I hope that helps. I was very shy, but I decided it was not fun. I decided to come out of my shell the last 2 years of high school, so I could date and have more friends and fun. It worked. I did and I went to dances because I got the courage to ask the guys. I went as friends, but it was fun.
I got sick in my early 20s so those last years of high school and early years of college hold some important years of feeling good and having fun. If I knew what I know now I would have made all of them fun. I would have ignored all the cliques and teasing and just had fun.

It is, for a little while, because it's new. But, here's my advice- Just be open, friendly, and genuine to everyone you meet. Don't make harsh enemies. Always be comfortable and clean. Wear something every day that makes you feel beautiful. Always smile, never listen to the gossip, and know that high school won't be the climax of your life- it'll just be a part of it! Live it up!

no, it's not scary at all. people just tell you that. you don't have to associate with every person there. avoid the weirdos you don't want to be around, and in high school s that are fed by a few schools, you can meet more people that will share your interests.
to make it a good year, don't be afraid to do strange things. like, in my freshman year, i wore a goth outfit with a neon blue wig the 3rd day of school. i got a lot of weird looks, but it was fun, and people admire those who aren't afraid to be different. also, this random junior asked me to dance at a dance. i didn't know his name and had never seen him before, but i did, and we became GREAT friends.
just be yourself, and don't get offended when the upper grades pick on you. no one likes a freshman that thinks it's mean to pick on them b/c i guarantee that when you are out of freshman year, you're gonna make fun of the freshman too.
enjoy school!
oh, and don't just get laid or do stuff with guys to be popular or whatever, b/c you WILL be labeled a ****.

Any new thing will make you a little nervous, but I hope it's not actually frightening!
If your schedule allows it, go out for a sport you love, or join a club for an activity that interests you. Take an elective! You'll meet great new people who have similar interests and have an awesome time.

you would be in severe college now. maximum probable human beings would be extra mature and not decide you on the colour of your skin. enable's be basic, might you even decide to be acquaintances with human beings like that? i might extremely be a loner... in basic terms be open to human beings. Smile, do no longer act too prepared to locate acquaintances, take it slow... you will locate acquaintances do no longer complication if the 1st day you haven't any longer stumbled on absolutely everyone. I bear in ideas my first day of inexperienced persons haha, all human beings in my instructions have been paired up already with acquaintances and that i became the only one on my own, so as quickly as I get homestead i began out crying. yet over the years I have been given to communicate to human beings regardless of if it took numerous braveness, and then i ended that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days fairly properly. As for adult males... do exactly no longer date older adult males? do no longer supply it to them in the event that they ask neither have not got self assurance each little thing they permit you realize, stay on your guards you will possibly desire to be positive. solid luck

naw. the first day is a lil nerve wrecking tho. its hard to find all your classes, but it doesnt really matter anyway becuase they let you be late the first few days. having a good year is easy, just dont panic. its just like middle school, only with a bit more freedom. you still have regular classes, but you get cool electives wit them. actually, at my school, i have less homework than i did in middle school. so it all works out.
dont stress =)
