If you look at their salary as a percentage of net income for a given team, then no, they do not make too much at all.

Same with movie stars. Is $20 million to much to pay someone who will bring $100+ million in profits into your company?

All professional athletes earn too much money. They have totally lost touch with the people who through their ticket purchases pay those exorbitant salaries. Too many of them feel that they are above everyone but especially above the fan of their sport. I realize that only a few athletes become professionals and they must keep themselves in very good shape but I think they could do this on, oh, a measly 1or 2 million a year.

YES! In fact, most athletes earn much more than they deserve...for example, Tiger Woods--he made $80 million in 2004--just for putting a golf ball in a hole!...Athletes make more than doctors and other professions that are really more important in this world...

not only are athletes overpaid, but entertainment people in general...Tom Cruise...does he really deserve how much he makes! Not really...It really isn't fair that the cast of Friends made a million dollars each per episode when other people work so hard and make REAL differences in this world. People are just so absorbed in pop culture so the famous people are rewarded by being overpaid and the real workers in society struggle...

No -- they're in a free market and get paid based on customer demand. There is a very small proportion of the population who can play professional basketball, and a very large proportion of the population who are willing to pay to watch it. If people resent high-paid athletes or actors, don't pay to see games or movies and don't buy from companies that sponsor them.

Athletes are entertainers, just like actors and musicians, only they have to stay in shape and put forth a constant effort, unlike actors and musicians. I'd say in a fair world, no, no they don't make too much. Politicians are the ones who make too much money if anybody.

I think all athletes get paid too much. Our country is in economical danger, but yet these guys makes millions of dollars each year. Its good to have entertainment, but when the country is in jeopardy, we need to prioritize a little better. These guys can sit at home for a few months, and give up their paychecks for more useful things than new cars and bigger houses.

ALL professional sports players make WAY to much money, that is why I refuse to watch or take part in it! It is a tragedy when there are kids out there who are starving, people are homeless and we are paying people to chase a little ball around! What is this world coming to? Athletes, actors/actresses, pop musicians, and politicians, ALL make way to much money

All pro sports players are grossly overpaid. That's why ticket prices are so outrageous. A worker making under $10 an hour could never afford to take their family to a game.

Its relative. Would you rather see 12 players on a team all that money or 1 owner make more.

They do, but then again tickets cost too much too. The only way to bring salaries down though is for people to stop going, and that isn't happening yet.
