because i could drive to alaska today....nonstop

Yes. Many commercial vehicles, typically driven short distances around town, use methane, including many of the shuttle vans serving Sea-Tac Airport. The trend will increase, because methane is cheaper than gasoline. But one of these will not get you to Alaska -- the vehicles are short range, and there are not a lot of methane service stations on the Alaska Highway.

I think we need some clarification here. There are several compressed gasses that are used to power vehicles, straight methane is not one of them. Propane is used extensively to power vehicles like fork lifts, etc. Not a whole lot of cars using it. CNG (compressed natural gas) is used extensively and has a high methane content. It is used by many transit companies for buses, and long haul truckers are beginning to use it because it saves a lot of money. CNG has additives to make it usable in internal combustion engines, and the number of vehicles is growing daily. If CNG is what you are referring to, than get your car converted, or buy one already made for the use of it, and head out to Alaska.

that car would blow up! the extreme heat of a car mixed with methane gas would cause the car's gas tank to melt, and explode
