Well...understand I have been somewhat leery of committing to comics again in the wake of the year's-plus doom-and-gloom trends in the Big Two, but.....

John Cassaday, I can't say enough good things about the guy's work, he really does know his stuff.

Also, just in terms of hot-babe art...wow, MIchael Turner, J. Scott Campbell both....just plain wow....but....

I have to wonder about the fight scenes in superhero comics these days....seems like there is no flow, and folks are just posing "for a camera". I hate that. Even Ed McGuinness, in the "Public Enemies" arc of Superman/Batman did this, and it kinda sucks...the comics I had when I was a kid, the art might not have been as rich or detailed, but it *did* have flow, some of the more Jack Kirby influenced stuff in particular just *ran* from page to page in the fights, had a real flow to it and followed some manner of coherent logic....

These days though, it's all about the single, kick-butt panel. Posing for a camera. When, if you are going to have heroes in a comic book fighting, you really need to have some sense of *motion*. And not just a computer-aided blur on the inks and colors....:p

Just saying.

I'd say my favorites are Andy Kubert (Formerly of X-Men, Wolverine and presently on Batman), John Romita Jr (Formerly of Amazing Spider-Man) and Mark Bagley (Ultimate Spider-Man.

Also to note: Banky is not a real person. Michael Oeming did the art for Bluntman and Chronic (Michael Allred did the covers shown in Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob strike back). Once again: Banky Edwards is a fictional character from a movie (Besides that, he wasn't a penciler, he was the inker, Holden MacNeil was the penciler in those movies).
