no .. a period is the shedding of the uterus... that is what is doing .. you have a heavy period... for all who said that it is a blood clot they are wrong .the definition of blood clot is ... and a baby does not feed off of that ... the purpose of the lining of the uterus is to protect the fetus.. not to feed it..

Yes more than likely that is what it is. Many people have those and while it may look black it is usually a dark blue because that is what the color of your blood is before it is exposed to oxygen. I have had that happen as well as I am sure most women. If it concerns you you should check with the doctor. It does sound like the normal clot but maybe you will feel better talking to the doctor about it. I am sure you should not worry. If you talk to your doctor now or when you go in for your yearly pap they may even be able to tell you how to help this. I use a thermocare heating pad and it helps out ALOT!!! Good Luck.

Yea, like everyone said it's a blood clot... That's the "stuff" that a baby would feed off of if you were pregnant... Some clots can be as small as a tick... some can be as large as a half-dollar coin... even bigger! Don't be alarmed... For every cramp you have, that's your body producing "clots"...
Don't think that because you have clotting in your period that you might have this serious disease or illness... if you don't have cramps, you won't have as many clots... if you do, then expect clotting... To avoid contact with clots, don't use a tampon, use a pad...

Your mom is right. It is normal to pass small (size of a quarter or smaller) clots. However, if your period gets super heavy and you pass alot of large blood clots you will need to go to the doctor to have it checked out.

Poor girl but I feel for you I can feel all of blood clots and have at least two every period. But my periods only come once every three months (a curse and blessing rolled all into one) And due to that I get some major clots.
Don't worry bout it my gyno says it's normal for some woman to get them.

Yep, blood clot. That is totally normal. I have heard they can be as large as an egg after you have children. You don't need to worry about it. Human bodies are just gross sometimes :)
