I'm driving up from 55 and want to avoid the Dan Ryan

The first direction above is leading you to your destination from the north. You will be traveling from the southwest.

Rt 43 (Harlem AV) from I-55. Turn left and take that north to I-290 (Eisenhower Expy) then right (east) to Western then left (north) to Lincoln.

The other alternative is I-55 until exit 281(California AV) at the end of the ramp turn left on California , go under I-55 and over the canal to 31st ST. Turn left at Western AV. Follow that to Lincoln for about 10 miles. Western Av is the longest street in Chgo. You will drive through some its interesting neighborhoods. Feel free to stop and have a snack!


both routes are safe and 4 lane streets.

I highly recommend maps. yahoo.com and if that does not work, my suggestion is to take Touhy exit and drive east to Lincoln and down to Western.
