how do u tell the difference between leaking anmotic fluid and leaking urine??

I just went through that question with my doctor, she actually had to do an internal and swab me then she rubbed the swab on this yellow band and said NOPE...
I was told that when the wet spoton your underwear dries, if its urine it will smell of urine, if its amniotic fluids it will smell sweet. I couldnt tell so i went in to find out.

It can be hard to tell. I think if you have a continuous leak, that it is probably amniotic fluid. It is probably a good idea to be checked out by a doctor, just to be sure. when I was pregnant, my water broke near the top of the sac. When this happens you can have a slow leak, not the gushing that a lot of women have. If your water has broken, you will need to have the baby in the next 24 hours to avoid an infection. good luck!

i looked on the internet a couple of weeks ago when your water breaks it is hardly ever a big gush of fluid, that happens rarely . most people have a slow trickle and some don't break at all most often it happens when your about 9cm dialated by then your at the hospital, but a way you can figure if its urine or amniotic fluid is put a pad in your underwear and go lay down for about 30 mins if when you get up and cheak the pad its wet your water has broken (This is because the fluid will puddle up in your vagina until you stand then gravity happens) if the pad is dry you had an accident

i just had my baby three weeks ago. i had her at 39 weeks. and had the same prob for a a couple of weeks before. you should call ur doctor if ur next appointment isn't soon. and he can do a test or even feel on ur belly and he can tell if u are leaking amniotic fluid or not. oh and it doesn't always come in a gush, thats would be if ur water broke, if ur leaking it would be a trinkle but its hard to tell if its amniotic fluid or urine, so u should see ur doc if ur worried.

Amniotic fluid should smell sweet and be clear in color. And when your water breaks it usually comes in a gush. Doesn't feel like you are urinating. You pretty much know what happened.

You go into the Dr's office and they will test for amniotic fluid. If it's after hours you can visit the hospital maternity triage.

leaky amiotic fluid is clear and continuos urine is a yellowy colour and sometimes smelly if your not sure go to the hospital and get cheaked out
i had that with my first didnt know what was happening turned out to be first stage of labour
