Gold has been found in every state. There is gold in yours too . The glaciers brought gold down from Canada as they slid south.I have mined gold as a hobby for 15 years. There are many sites you can visit for more information.49er mikes.com is a good one . Look for" where to go" and there will be information on your area complete with rivers and creeks where gold has been found. Also the gpaa (gold prospectors association of america) has a good site where you can do research and actually chat with miners or hook up with some to show you everything you want to know. There is a map company that offers a map of gold for every state. It lists mines and prospects that can lead you right to the gold in your area. The map company is called Big Ten.
