There are several cause of heartburn but the treatment is basically the same.
1. You could try some Maalox or some Zantac for immediate relief.
2. If you don't have that....use a small amount (1/2 tsp) of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) mixed in 4 oz of water. Don't do this often, but it will work short term.
3. What you eat may be causing the problem: avoid alcohol, spicy foods, eating before you go to bed and eating too much at a sitting. Bad habits lead to indigestion which leads to heartburn.
4. Long term problems may need Prilosec...But don't this as your first choice.
5. Don't drink soda or sugary things right now.
6. You may want a little bread after taking some medication...but in general it should resolve by itself.

Stop heartburn before it starts:
1) Don’t wear tight clothing, especially after a meal.
2) Avoid liquor, smoking areas.
3) No heavy meals.
4) Don’t sleep immediately after a meal.
5) Sleep on your left side if you are going to sleep anyway.
6) Not exercise after a meal.
7) Avoid foods and drinks like, orange juice, lemon tea, coffee, milk, cheese,
9) If you suffer from headaches, don’t take any form of aspirin, find something else.
10) And if you want a good night’s sleep, then sleep in an uncomfortable half reclining position, where your head is at a higher level than your stomach.

nobody should answer this due to a possible lawsuit you should talk to a pharmacist or doctor because we as the general public cannot see what pills you are on and even zantac can interact with some prescriptions/ you can type in heartburn in the google box or your local internet webbrowser or heartburn remedies and read some articles. good luck to you.
