At the dawn of the 21st century, the world constantly engages in the struggle for definition and transformation. On one hand are the forces keeping civilizations and communities separate from one another, and on the other hand are the forces seeking international integration of countries, peoples, resources, and technologies.

Using your knowledge of the past, as well as current events and specific proofs, in which direction is the world headed?

tell them that the world is heading in a bad direction

cite example of forces seeking to keep civilizations apart, talk about immigration on the borders of the us, and talk about the religious groups in the middle east.

those would be two very good example to support forces KEEPING civlizations and communities seperate.

if you want to keep supporting that viewport, use the Nazi era as a very strong example of forces trying to seperate communities.

If you want to support the opposite view i really dont have that many examples. everything thats happening in this country and the world right now seems to be drawing boundaries moreso than inviting in peace.

I hope this helps you!

accountability is something we all strive towards. We are now at a very serious cross roads of sorts due to the Internet and the world is no longer just interested in what is going on in their own countries because it is now global events which has captured all our attentions these days. There was a time people could sleep with their doors unlocked and would be totally safe and also not think twice about anyone simply walking in and stealing everything you own including your life. This is not the way it is any more now you can't even hardly walk down the street without wondering if you'll make it to the end of the street in many cities these days.Times have changed the way we all live and think. Years ago a fist fight between two children was simply just that a fight between two children. These days it is assault and battery and by goodness make sure your lawyer is available on speed dial. Also years ago one country would threaten another but nine times out of ten that was all show now when a country threatens another it isn't a bunch of B.S. they mean what they say and are willing and able to follow through on those threats. This boils down to one thing once we were all ignorant of what was happening in the world as a whole now everybody knows what is basically going on and it is definitely a good thing.

i'll tell you how i would answer that question, but simply in general terms.

The truth is that we are walking in both ways mentioned in the question. The current of international integration is at the same time creating the impulse to protect and affirm one's culture.
They are not mutually exclusive. it is through variety and interaction between different cultural characteristics that International integration becomes richer. Even MNCs have recognized it, and it is manifested in the following:
ex. "how can we put Nokia in Japan?"
" - no, the question is, how can we put japan in nokia"
(enriching nokia with japanese knowledge and culture, instead of trying to simply put the brand in the market - glocalization)

the forces that keep civilizations separated have been transforming into forces which try to keep the culture and traditions alive, but fusing it , more and more, with the need of intergration at worldwide level. Why?because only that way cultures and communities can survive in a more and more integrated world.

Hope it's easy for you to understand this argument, and you might not review yourelf in it at all, because tha answer is subjective.
im from international relations. Good luck with your essay

Forces keeping civilizations apart: racism, wars, religious beliefs that they worship the one true god.
Forces drawing us together: offshoring work to other countries (example, the Help Desk for your United States Visa card is likely answered from India). The internet draws us together -- we're answering questions from other countries here. We have national standards institutes speaking with other countries to set up standards for things such as our cell phones.

McDonalds and Starbucks are all over the world. I'll leave you to decide whether they're resented or loved.

check the world map as countries have either separated or joined together. Check business articles for merging companies. Including oil and other natural resource mergers.
I think China will dominate world trade (as they make everything) check trade between China and other countries {trade deficit}
USA will define country(ies) borders as they are always getting into other countries wars.
Europe will never change.
The Americas inc. N. Will have free trade.

For a title I would go with Color Struggle or Racism and Me. You always have to catch the reader with the 1st line of your essay (known as the "hook") Use a quote about racism or ask a question like "Have you ever experienced racism?" If you reel them in with the first line, they'll want to keep reading.

As history shows, we continually right our wrongs... This is clear from the fact that we no longer have such things as slavery, women have equal rights now.

The world can only become a better place as time progresses...

Humanity progresses every generation. We right our wrongs...
