as a heatlhcare practitioner i know that it is NOT damaging to pop your fingers. in fact it is beneficial. the old rumor of it making your knuckles larger or causing arthritis is what it says--just a rumor. some scientists did a study in 1996 in CO where they asked elderly people in nursing homes if they had ever popped their knuckles at some point in their life. the ones that had they found to have 80% LESS arthritic problems in their hands than ones that didn't pop their knuckles.

it's a simple concept: joints need movement to stay healthy. popping them relieves pressure by re-aligning the joint and also brings in fluid and nutrients to them which keeps them healthier. the proper way to pop them is to just pull straight out. so pop away!

yes, I use to pop them all the time and I had to quit because my fingers started to hurt. Also I herd that doctors say it's not good for a person to pop them.
